It's been well over 5 months since I promised a nursery painting to my sweet friend for her (then) new little one. A painting that should have taken a few hours stretched over several seasons. I just couldn't get it right. And now, the image on the paper is quite different than the image I started with in my head.
This piece in particular, was supposed to be pink (and a lamb). But pink—I have since learned—is quite difficult. So I had to scratch it, and start over. But sometimes letting go of the perfect image in your head is the best thing to do. You end up with something quite unexpected, and often quite better than what you had imagined.
